For the last couple of years, I've had the opportunity to be Motion Lead for the Casey's C3 Commitment Conference. Not only is it one of Unbridled's biggest pieces of business, but probably one of the most exciting. Having recently come off of the heels of another conference, I began work on Casey's after the visual identity for the show had been established. From there, it was my job to create General Sessions assets and expand the visid into a full motion package. In past years, we've always stuck to 2D animation and graphics that could be created and shared in programs like Adobe Illustrator. Choosing to develop the looks in Cinema 4D this year, I not only needed to manage my own assets, but help to render out graphics for print request.
The crowd at Casey's is notorious for bringing relentless and constant hype. Kansas City's convention center is filled with blow horns, ratchets, clankers, whistles, and thick, musty team spirit. With such a dedicated crowd, one that you could say is ALL IN, it's essential to kick off the show and reveal first looks of the event theme with an absolute bang. We opted for a show open (01) with no VO and kinetic type so that attendees could follow along without needing to be able to hear every word. Sound Design was focused on maximizing existing visual effects and adding that much more boom to the General Session arena.
Once the show was kicked off, we headed straight into the CEO's opening remarks and GS motion package looks (02). Part of my responsibilities for this event include a simple video motion package: bump ins/outs, and an L3 motion graphic template (03). Those video assets featured below are retrofitted in the awards looks for evening 2.
In keeping with that All In spirit, Casey's finally eternalized their best-selling food item in its most delicious form, Allen the mascot! Kayla Barry created the illustrated version of Allen that I rebuilt in AE for a quick cameo character animation (04) in the day 1 General Session walk-in loop.
